Cleaning Business Plans: Are You Experienced?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

The business plan is your first opportunity to show potential funders that you have the experience needed to launch your cleaning business. But what kind of experience are they looking for?

Technical Skills

Although you may or may not be doing any of the cleaning yourself, someone in the company needs the technical skills for the type of cleaning service you will be offering. This individual must be ready to train employees in the “company way” of doing things, even if they come with experience of their own. Technical skills should include the knowledge of how to work safely (so as not to endanger the worker or anyone else), properly (so as not to cause any damage), efficiently (to get the work done in the least amount of time possibly), and inexpensively (to cause the lease amount of wasted supplies and equipment).

Mother of a sales performance

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

As the New York Stock Exchange is now looking at “employee engagement” as a significant predictor of higher share value and market return, and given we are all competing, not just for clients and market share but for good employee talent, maybe a key performance indicator for sales management could be in Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB).

I came across some recent research into sales management, and it got me thinking about how team leaders were not allowed to “mother” their sales teams.

A loaded term, “mothering”, and without proper definition creates myths and innuendo where none should exist. The following research piece might surprise you - then again it may not.

The research, conducted by Piercy, Lane and Cravens, examines the gender issue across multiple companies from the perspective of sales managers.

What Is Erp?

ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning is a term used in conjunction with Enterprise Resource Planning software which is designed to manage all the functions and information of a company or business from shared data stores.

An Enterprise Resource Planning system has modular software and hardware services and units that communicate on a LAN. The modular plan enables a business to reconfigure or add modules (maybe from various vendors) while maintaining data integrity in 1 shared database that can be distributed or centralized.

Summary of ERP solutions

Some organizations, usually those with enough in house Information Technology skills to integrate numerous software merchandises, select to implement only parts of an Enterprise Resource Planning system and make an outer interface to other stand-alone or ERP systems for their application needs. Scalability: Why Small Businesses Outsource

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Mature industries like banking, pharmaceuticals and insurance have been outsourcing for decades – even before the term became popular. These verticals have standardized processes in their industries which enable them to easily scale – based on the economy and market conditions.

Because outsourcing has become available to small business owners and online professionals, you can now expect the same level of scalability, efficiency and cost savings that exists in other well-managed businesses that leverage outsourcing.

According to a report titled “Global Sourcing Trends in 2009” by U.S.-based law firm Morrison and Foerster:  Most outsourcing transactions intend to produce immediate improvements to the bottom line for businesses. While this is a common reason to outsource, with fluctuating economic times like we have been experiencing lately, the flexibility to scale up or scale down (based on the business’s needs) has been the determining factor to outsource.

Retail Strategy in India-III (Store Positioning Strategy)

Store positioning strategy

Retail positioning is the fight for a place in the consumers mind. Different retailers work to secure a place in the mind of the target consumer. Retailers need to create an image in the consumer’s mind relative to their competitors so that consumers shop at their retail shop.

Positioning has to be more specific to create an impression on the consumer’s mind. The strategies followed needs to be well defined whether a retail store is a specialised store or a general store.

For example, consider three stores:

  • 1. A supermarket which includes footwear department
  • 2. A store specially dedicated to footwear
  • 3. A store specially dedicated to women’s footwear
  • In this situation, the positioning of retailer in consumer’s mind drives them to the store. Women/men   looking for footwear along with their monthly general household needs will opt for the supermarket. The second scenario attracts both men and women who are on look out for footwear only. The third scenario attracts only women looking for footwear.
