The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Understanding Networks

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Today’s lesson is on networks. Before you roll your eyes and go flipping around for the crossword puzzle, understand that I’m going to make this super easy. Let’s get going.

Networks. Perhaps you’ve heard people, TV commercials or magazine ads throwing that term around. And then there are all those companies out there that “do something” with networks: Nortel, Novell, Cisco … but the questions still remains for the majority of the non-technical population: Um, what exactly is a network, anyway? Do I have a network? Do I need a network? Aren’t networks only for businesses?

Let’s take the big topic of networking and break it up into little, understandable pieces.

First, we need a layperson’s definition. A network is just two or more computers that are linked so that they can exchange files or share resources such as printers. That’s it.

Online Network Marketing is inevitable for all networkers. Old model offline techniques are ‘dead.’ The internet evolution and revolution in marketing capability cannot be ignored!

Going Online: The Network Marketing Shift

The beginning of ‘the shift’ to online network marketing was when internet marketers started to be profitable online. That was from 1996, but in 2000 online advertising got a big boost by the introduction of Google Adwords. Internet marketers started to be more effective and some astute people took to ‘list building’ for offline network marketing.

Really… the online network marketing revolution got its biggest boost by the revelations of ‘The Renegade Network Marketer.’ Mike Dillard had put a different, but effective spin on it through Magnetic Sponsoring. However Ann Sieg came out and said what many experienced networkers were thinking. She made it absolutely clear that offline network marketing was a ‘failure.’ The 95% failure rate that has plaqued the industry for decades is not a figure that networkers can be proud of!

Change: To A Total Online Business

Changing to network marketing online involves having your own website, which you develop into a website business. Your website should be information intense. A place where you pre-sell your site-visitors on your website theme. That theme should be related to your network marketing product. The website must be your own… not company controlled. By that I mean… you don’t mention your network marketing company’s registered name or the tradename of any of their products. You keep your main website ‘generic.’

The Benefits of Completing a Network Audit

Friday, February 12th, 2010

The benefits of completing a network audit on your computer network are numerous. Not only does it help keep your computer network at optimal condition through analyzing power consumption, needed equipment upgrades or security issues, but can help establish an asset base and future cash flow needs for equipment and office space planning.

Typically, the benefits of completing a network audit can keep you informed of versions of software and licenses to help detect shortages or plan mass upgrades. Network audits can locate hard drives, network adapters, CPU details, motherboard specifications and peripherals and detect security issues, such as where antivirus or firewalls need to be installed.

Typically, one of the benefits of completing a network audit is to give you a comprehensive, no-hassle network inventory database that is extremely helpful in determining future needs when it comes to hardware and software. Another benefit of a network audit, is analyzing security needs, which is especially important to keep from costly downtime, or complete data loss, especially on large and scattered out networks.

What Exactly is Network Marketing?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

To begin with, the concept behind network marketing is simple. Sharing – through product or business philosophy – is the basis of network marketing.

Network marketing is a multi-billion dollar industry involving millions of independent business people around the globe. Large companies like Gillette, Colgate-Palmolive, Kleeneze Europe, AT&T and others, have all turned to network marketing because of the very real edge it gives them in both domestic and international marketing.

Network marketing is a ‘BIG’ small business, which offers everyone, with or without business experience, the opportunity to start and run a home-based business that works. It is the last frontier where ‘the little guy’, (people like you and me) can make it BIG.

NETWORK MARKETING Vs. TRADITIONAL MARKETING

The traditional way of marketing products is to move them from a manufacturer through a network of middlemen. National Wholesalers, regional wholesalers, Cash & Carry warehouses, retailers, – the ‘middlemen’ – all add their ‘valueless’ percentage to the price of the product.

How To Use Networking To Run A Successful Network Marketing Business

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

If you are going to run a successful network marketing business you are going to have to master the skill of networking. In it’s simplest form networking is defined as meeting people who can be of help to you and being a help to them.

In a network marketing business that would mean using contacts for purposes beyond the reason for the initial contact. For example, you may ask a propsect for names of others who may be interested in your peoducts or business opportunity.

Although networking is such an intricate part of a network marketing business, the two terms are not synonymous. However there are similarities. Both rely heavily on people skills and require you to confront their fear of talking to other people. Both carry with them the risk of rejection and also carry with them enormous opportunity.
